The new mailing lists as described below have been activated by February 1999

1- Structure of the Institute (for mailing purpose)

In order to find a rule to build up mailing lists which are convenient to everybody
we should divide our co-workers in some logical groups.
Please try to imagine a series of concentric circles :

  • professors ( Bolognesi, Hafner, Vahldiek )
  • assistants (incl. "Oberassistenten" und "Gruppencheffen")
  • technical staff ( Lanz, Maccio, Schuhbeck-Wagner, Rossi )
  • students
  • guests (academic guests or similar)
  • former members
  • externals (temporary staff for some special work, etc.)

Beside it we also have different working fields with one professor as leader:

  • mwel : teraherzt electronics (Prof. Bolognesi)
  • emf :  electromagnetic fields (Prof. Vahldieck)

Mind that having a mail address at our site does NOT necessarily means to have an account on our computer system, as it is possible to forward mails directly in our mail server configuration.

From the considerations above we can deduct a structure for the mailing lists. Please  see the following picture which just give an idea of the concept but is now wrong about the position of "former" and "external". Please read further below:

2 - Buildings blocks

The following mailing lists represent the building blocks with which we can build up other lists.
Each person is listed only once in one of the following lists:

profs  Bolognesi, Vahldiecka, Hafner
mwel.assis assistants of Prof. Bolognesi
emf.assis assistants of Prof. Vahldieck
techn technical staff + secretaries
studis students doing  some work at IFH
guests academic guests or similars
former former member of IFH
externals occasionally working with us, external people having a mailbox here

3- From those basic building blocks we obtain more mailing lists:

emf emf.assis + Prof. Vahldieck
ifh.assis mwel.assis  +  emf.assis
ifh.mitarb ifh.assis + techn
ifh  or  ifh.alle  or  ifh.all ifh.mitarb  +  profs
ifh.local ifh.alle  + studis
ifh.global ifh.local   +  guests   + externals
ifh.universal ifh.global   + former

Following lists exist already and will be kept like this
send a mail to me to be put into a list
